Flight Targeting (2025 New Flight form)
- Updated on 29 Mar 2025
- 9 Minutes to read
- DarkLight
This section is not available if the Campaign budget allocation is set to Programmatic Guaranteed.
Targeting lets you define the parameters that Samsung DSP requires to deliver your ads. Targeting allows you to define your ideal audience (where the users are located, what types of devices they use), how often they see your ad (inventory quality), what other types of media they engage with, and more.
When creating or editing a flight, you can save your progress anytime by clicking on Save in the bottom right-hand corner.
Once you finish setting up your flight, you can review the choices you made in the different sections. This is useful to ensure that no mistakes were done during your selection before adding your creatives and launching your flight. See Targeted Inventory for more information.

Player size
You can decide to bid only on inventory where the video player size is within a certain range. You can select any of the following:
- All
- Samsung Ads' list of quality sizes. A pre-approved size list from Samsung Ads that eliminates suspicious formats, such as in-banner and non-standard. Please be aware that this option may greatly reduce available inventory.
- By Size Bucket. We currently support Small, Medium, and HD. You can also opt to bid where the player size is unknown.
Start delay
You can decide to bid only on inventory where the ads are before, during, or after the main/featured video content by selecting Pre-roll, Mid-roll, or Post-roll. You can also include inventory where the start delay is unknown by using the Unknown Start Delays toggle.
Smart TV Year and Chipset
This setting only applies to Native TV creatives.
- Use the filter box to easily retrieve the items with their ID or name.
- Use Presets to easily define a list of selected items you can reuse as a template. See Presets for more information.
The Smart TV Settings feature categorizes Samsung TVs based on their year of manufacture and chipset.
Within this list, you will find Samsung TVs gathered by years of manufacture (YYYY
), and with their associated chipsets (YYYY > XXXX
where XXXX
refers to their chipset).
This option allows you to specifically target the TVs that are capable of running your applications and receiving the ads delivered to them.
To include TVs belonging to a specific year of manufacture, use the checkmark icon .
If there are TVs you want to exclude, use the forbidden sign .
Selecting a particular year of manufacture will automatically include the options that pertain to the chipset.
For instance, if you choose 2020, TVs equipped with KANTS2, KANTSU2, NIKEL, and NIKEM chipsets will also be included and targeted.

Inventory Quality
Brand safety ($)
This targeting doesn’t work on App inventory (i.e. Mobile in-app or CTV) and activating this option will prevent delivery on apps.
You can use Integral Ad Science AdSafe (IAS) brand safety data to prevent online advertisements from appearing on web pages containing content deemed inappropriate in various categories (adult, alcohol, drug, hate speech, illegal download, offensive language, or violent content). There is a CPM upcharge for this. There are three filter options you can choose from:
- No filter.
- Strict. Filter pages ranked by IAS as High for adult content.
- Very Strict. Filter pages ranked by IAS as High and Moderate for adult content.
You can also exclude pages that Integral Ad Science AdSafe cannot rate (i.e. "blind" URLs, ad server URLs, ad network URLs, doubleclick.com, yieldmanager.com, id addresses, etc.) by using the IAS Ad Safe Filter toggle.
Authorized sellers
Ads.txt and App-ads.txt is an IAB Tech Lab AdTech standard that adds transparency to the programmatic inventory supply chain. The standard is a simple and secure file in which publishers publicly declare the authorized DIRECT sellers and RESELLERS of their digital inventory, Web, and App.
Settings | Description |
---|---|
All (No filter) | Inventory from all available sellers. |
Authorized and Non-participating publishers (Low filter) | Inventory where the seller is declared as DIRECT or RESELLER or publishers that do not have an ads.txt/app-ads.txt file. Removes sellers which are not listed in ads.txt/app-ads.txt file. Also applies to private deals/PMPs. |
Authorized Direct sellers and Resellers (Moderate filter) | Only authorized sellers declared as DIRECT or RESELLER in the ads.txt/app-ads.txt file. Also applies to private deals/PMPs. |
Authorized Direct sellers | Only authorized sellers declared as DIRECT in the ads.txt/app-ads.txt file. Also applies to private deals/PMPs. |
Suspicious activity
This targeting doesn’t work on App inventory (i.e. Mobile in-app or CTV) and activating this option will prevent delivery on apps.
Integral Ad Science AdSafe's content rating technology scores inventory to determine the risk of fraudulent or deceptive activity on websites, including both click and impression fraud.
You can filter pages that Integral Ad Science rated as high or very high risk for suspicious activity by selecting Strict or Very Strict.
VCR Optimizer
Select the level of VCR Optimization you want: No Optimization, Slight, Moderate, or Aggressive.
Viewability ($)
This targeting doesn’t work on App inventory (i.e. Mobile in-app or CTV) and activating this option will prevent delivery on apps.
Target inventory within a specific Integral Ad Science viewability rating. You can select the following options:
- Top 10%
- Top 20%
- Top 35%
- Top 50%
- Top 75%
There is a CPM upcharge for this.

Contextual categories ($)
This feature is not supported yet in every region.
For now, only the following locations have access: USA, CA and MX.

Customers can target inventory pre-bid based on contextual categories and sub-categories. Integral Ad Science (IAS) assesses the contextual category of the pages ads appear on, based on the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Networks and Exchanges Taxonomy. We currently support categories from the following vendors:
- IAS ($)
- IAB
- DoubleClick
- Nielsen
Genre
Genre allows you to target your desired audience based on the type of content they consume. Take advantage of this feature to ensure that your ad is delivered to individuals who share a common interest in specific genres of programming.
Our list of genres is based on Nielsen's taxonomy list of genres. In the genre list, you have the genre code in the first column, the name of the genre in the second column, and additional genres included in the last column.
"Genre" is a free text field and can contain multiple genres, genre codes, as well as various genre descriptions in text. We added mapping logic to include genre values in the "additional genres included" column and map them to their corresponding genres for targeting purposes.
