Samsung DSP’s forecasting system predicts bid requests for an ad campaign across different channels and target audiences.

You can use this information to adjust budget allocation, creative content, and targeting parameters. This allows you to maximize the ROI of your campaign while reducing under-deliveries.

Before starting

Some considerations and recommendations to take into account before running a forecast.
The values obtained by forecasting are only estimates and the following options are not supported by the forecasting:

  • Frequency caps
  • Day / Time parting
  • Video length (can limit inventory)
  • Bid amount
  • Budget
  • Some Creative content (e.g, ads promoting Pharma and Alcohol products might get blocked by exchange sellers)

To use this forecasting, it is recommended to look at the Bid Requests – Daily metrics, and then apply your expected win rate for this inventory to get the estimated impressions.

Estimated Impressions = Bid Requests (Daily) X Expected Win Rate Percent.

The following estimated win rates can be used for the United States as a baseline:

  • CTV: 2%
  • Online Video: 5%
  • Online Display: 5%

Example: If the Bid Requests — Daily shows 231M, you can estimate (using a win rate of 2%) about 4.62M impressions per day for a CTV campaign. You can then apply the expected CPM to estimate the budget amount you would need.

Access and use the forecast widget

Please note that the Forecast widget will be disabled for flights with Programmatic Guaranteed bid tactic selected.

  • The forecasting system uses your settings to provide the most accurate results. This means that Samsung DSP will automatically ask you to re-run a forecast if you change your settings afterward.

  1. In the left panel, click Campaigns .
  2. Create a campaign by clicking +New Campaign in the upper right-hand corner OR select the one you want to run a forecast.
  3. Create a flight by clicking on New Flight in the upper right-hand corner, OR select one in the list.
  4. In the Strategy tab, make sure that the flight schedule (start date and end date) is correct, meaning within 28 days from the current date, and set up in accordance to the actual Flight start/end date/time. If not, you will receive the following message: `The flight start date cannot be prior to the campaign start date. Please review the campaign or flight schedule settings, then try again.
  5. In the upper right-hand corner, click Forecast.

Unless the following requirements are met, the Run Forecast button will be disabled:

  • Geography (Targeting tab → under Targeting section → Location, DMA, etc.)
  • Creative (Creatives tab)
  • Open Market/Direct Deals (within Marketplace tab)

  1. Once the mandatory fields are filled, click Run Forecast.
  2. Once generated, you can also click Download CSV if you want the data to be saved in a .csv file.

Interpret Forecasting Output

Troubleshooting

This section helps you resolve potential issues you might encounter when running a forecast.

For troubleshooting, always share the Task ID associated with the forecast to report issues. This will enable your Account Manager (Admin) to investigate any issues you might have noticed in the forecast request.

It indicates that the status of this audience is currently in the PROCESSING phase. Please be aware that it may take up to 7 hours for Samsung DSP to compile the necessary data and generate the desired audience.We suggest waiting until the status of this audience becomes AVAILABLE and then try again.
There was an issue at the backend. Please report this issue.This notification is displayed when Samsung DSP encounters difficulties to process data.The recommended solution is to wait a moment and then try again. If the error persists, please contact your Account Manager (Admin) to report this issue for further investigation.
Please select one country at a time for forecasting. If targeting DMAs, please ensure the associated country is also selected for forecasting.This message is displayed when multiple countries have been selected in the Geography section, or when the appropriate country associated with DMA has not been chosen.To resolve this issue, please ensure the following:
  • Only one country is selected in the Geography option under the Location tab.
  • If you have included DMA(s) in the DMAs tab, make sure that USA is selected in the Location tab.
An error occurred at the backend. Please try again later.This message appears when Samsung DSP has encountered an issue when processing data in the backend.The solution would be to wait a moment, then try again. If the error persists, please contact your Account Manager (Admin) to report this issue for further investigation.
