Build an Audience Using Universal Guide Segments

  1. Create a new Standard Audience.
  2. Click Universal Guide from the Samsung TV panel.
  3. Define a time period.
    • Study Period: Samsung DSP enables you to build audiences based on a static study period, with pre-defined date ranges (7 days, 30 days, 90 days) or custom ranges. Enter the date range for the study period and click on Apply.

    OR
    • Rolling Window: The Rolling window enables the creation of audiences based on a continuously refreshed dataset with respect to the current date, e.g., last 7 days, last 30 days, etc. The rolling window period can be up to a year, defined either in days (1-365) or weeks (1-52), and requires an end date. For the end date, any day between the current date and up to a year ahead may be selected.
  4. Choose a User Action.
    You can select more than one User Action based on your target audience goals.
    • Browse - captures TV users clicking on the homepage of the Universal Guide or viewing details of content on secondary pages.
    • Watch Trailer - captures clicks that initiate a show or movie trailer.
    • Watch for Free - captures clicks on the “Watch now” button for free content on FAST and AVOD apps.
    • Watch with Subscription - captures clicks on the “Watch now” button for free content on SVOD apps.
    • Rent & Purchase - captures clicks on the “Watch now” button for free content on TVOD apps.
  5. Choose genres from the selection menu, or use the Search field, to define your segment.
  6. Click Add Segments when you are finished.

Example Use Cases

  • Target users who are searching for certain content (program/genres/movies/series) and drive them towards OTT apps.
  • Help to reach users who are likely to spend money on purchases and drive them to make similar purchases in their TVOD.
  • Target users who have a propensity for watching free content, and drive these users to engage in Advertising-Based Video On Demand (AVOD).
  • Target users who indicate they will watch programs that are free through subscriptions and drive more SVOD use.
