Article summary

Universal Guide is a feature within Samsung TVs that allows users to discover and access various Over-the-top (OTT) content directly from their home screen. It aggregates content from different OTT providers, including Samsung TV Plus, and enables users to browse, hover, click, and watch content seamlessly. This feature provides valuable insights into user behavior, such as the content they watch, how they search for it, and their preferences.

Universal Guide integrates with Samsung's Audience Builder, allowing advertisers to target TV users based on their interactions within the Universal Guide. Advertisers can segment users by actions like browsing, watching trailers, or clicking to watch content via different viewing options (AVOD/FAST, SVOD, TVOD). Additionally, they can target users based on their spending habits and content genres of interest, enabling more personalized and effective advertising campaigns.

Example Use Cases

  • Target users who are searching for certain content (program/genres/movies/series) and drive them towards OTT apps.
  • Help to reach users who are likely to spend money on purchases and drive them to make similar purchases in their TVOD.
  • Target users who have a propensity for watching free content, and drive these users to engage in Advertising-Based Video On Demand (AVOD).
  • Target users who indicate they will watch programs that are free through subscriptions and drive more SVOD use.
