Set up a flight (2025 New Flight Form)

Samsung is rolling out a new streamlined New Flight form. At this time, you are able to use either version of the form.
This article covers the updated New Flight form. You can also learn to set up a flight using the original form.
A Flight is a subcomponent of a Campaign that can be understood as a parent-child relationship.
If the Campaign represents your overall strategy, Flights are the tactics that you define and use to achieve the objective of their related Campaign.
Flights promote your ads through Creatives and can be paused, or scheduled to be delivered during the most marketable time windows.

Create a Flight
- In the left panel, click Campaigns .
- On the Campaign Listing page, look for the campaign you want to add a flight to.
- Under the Actions column, click the three dots and select New Flight.
You can also create a new flight from the Campaign Show page as well.
- On the Campaign Listing page, click the campaign’s name.
- In the upper right-hand corner, click New Flight.
This feature is currently available on a limited basis.
To enable it on your buyer account, contact your Account Manager.
Select an inventory source
- Select the inventory source you want to target and click Setup Flight.
Based on your selection, our system automatically applies the necessary guardrails to prevent any risk of misconfiguration. This ensures a more seamless and efficient experience when launching your flights, tailored to your chosen inventory source.
Inventory Source | Description |
---|---|
Samsung TV Placement | This inventory source is perfect for advertisers looking to leverage the large number of Samsung TVs owned by their target audience. Take advantage of Samsung TVs' native tiles to showcase ads in a creative manner, enticing viewers to engage with ads positively as they seamlessly integrate with Samsung TV OS. |
Samsung Mobile Placement | This option is ideal for advertisers wishing to target Samsung smartphones exclusively, and tap into a large audience thanks to worldwide sales. |
Connected TV (CTV) | This inventory is designed for advertisers looking to target Samsung TVs, Smart TVs with access to Samsung TV Plus, and applications within the Samsung Content Network (SCN). Additionally, streaming devices and game consoles are included in this option. |
Online Video (OLV) | This inventory source is for advertisers seeking to target laptop, tablet, desktop and mobile devices when streaming videos. |
Display | This inventory source is intended for advertisers looking to target laptop, tablet, desktop and mobile devices displaying banners on websites. |
Flight Creation Form
The Flight Creation form is divided into separate sections to cover every detail of your flight.
General Information
- Flight Name: Give your flight a unique name.
- External Label: An optional field used to facilitate reporting across different systems.
- Start and End Dates: When this flight begins and ends. To select a time in a time zone different from the campaign’s, use the Day/Time Parting feature.

Budget & Bid Tactics
- Advertiser Margin is the difference between Advertiser Spend and Buyer Spend. Click Show additional limits to use more specific spending limits.
- Priority Group is used to determine the priority of each flight within the campaign.
- Bidding Tactic: Samsung offers four different bidding strategies: Fixed Bid, Maximize Reach, Maximize Conversions, and Maximize Conversion Value. Read more about each tactic in Flight Bid Tactic.

Inventory
Inventory lets you bid on the following deal types:
- Direct Deals: Special buyer agreements with sellers.
- Open Market: This option shows all exchanges and sellers Samsung DSP has access to on the open market.
- PG Deal (Programmatic Guarantee): A private marketplace deal where a publisher guarantees a set amount of inventory or impressions to an advertiser at a fixed price.

Creatives
- Creative: Upload one or multiple Creatives.
- Configured Language: This toggle lets you target browsers using your creative’s configured language.
- Carousel Creatives: This toggle enables the display of multiple tiles or slides, each with its own creative.

Frequency Caps
Frequency caps prevent overexposure to your ad.
- Advertiser, Campaign Group, and Campaign Caps: Frequency caps set at the Advertiser, Group, and Campaign level. Edits to frequency caps impact frequency caps at a broader level.
- Flight Frequency Cap: A frequency cap unique to this flight.
- Matched TVs: Bids only on devices and IP addresses tied to a Samsung Smart TV household.
- Device Located: Bids only on devices that provide coordinates.
- LiveRamp IdentityLink: You can choose to bid only on devices to an IdentityLink person or household ID.
Performance Tracking
- Conversion Groups: This feature allows you to define how a conversion is counted in DSP reports. Learn more about Performance Tracking in Flight Conversion Tracking.
Geography
- Geo Selections: Select the location/s for the flight to be displayed. To learn more about Geography, read Flight Targeting.
Environment
- Environment: Select the platform on which the flight is to be displayed: App (Mobile, TV, Game Consoles), Web (desktop, mobile, tablet), or All (both App and Web inventory). Read more about Environment in Flight Targeting.
Device & Browser
- Device & Browser: Select the devices and browsers you want to filter in or out.
- Browser Language: Select the language/s for your flight.
- Fold Position: Allows you to target inventory above or below the fold.
- Player Size: Bid only on inventory where the video player size is within a given range.
- Start Delay Target is a targeting option to bid on inventory based on the timing of the ad in relation to the main content.
- Unknown Start Delay: Include bids where start delay is unknown or not specified.

Audience
- Audience: Select the audience the flight should be directed at. Read more in Flight Audiences.
Inventory Quality
Inventory Quality makes sure your ad is appropriate for the audience you want to reach.
- Brand Safety: Filter out pages that AdScience Ad Safe has ranked as High Risk (Strict) or Moderate and High Risk (Very Strict) for adult content.
- Authorized Sellers: Authorized sellers are entities that are listed in the app-ads.txt/ads.txt file and are authorized to sell the TV Plus app's inventory.
- Suspicious Activity: Similar to Brand Safety, you can filter out pages that AdScience Ad Safe has ranked as High or Very High for suspicious activity.
- VCR Optimizer: Select one of four levels of optimization (None, slight, moderate, and aggressive).
Viewability. Target inventory that has an Integral Ad Science viewability rating from the top 10%- Top 75%.

Content
- Contextual Categories: The broader context of your flight (Examples: Arts, Education, Family, Health).
- Genre: The genres of content your target audience engages with (Examples: Adventure, daytime drama, children’s programming).
- Content Group Lists: Similar to Genre, content grouped by categories.
- Site Lists: Site lists are a list of entries composed of URLs.
- App Lists: App Lists are a list of entries composed of app bundle IDs.

Filters & Presets
Across the top of the flight form, the following filter tools are displayed:
All | Selected | Presets |

By default, All is selected to present all elements of the list. clicking Selected filters to display only your selection (i.e. only ticked checkmarks/forbidden signs). | Selected is enabled as soon as you tick at least one checkmark/forbidden sign. clicking Selected filters the view to display only your selection (i.e. only ticked checkmarks/forbidden signs). | Presets are a pre-defined list of selected elements available for all users. The floppy disk icon allows you to save a preset from the elements you select in a list. The floppy disk icon is replaced by a trash icon when you select a preset. clicking the trash icon deletes the selected preset. |
Include and Exclude Elements
Include or exclude elements by clicking the checkmark or the forbidden icon:
The Checkmark icon becomes green when clicked. This means that this element is included.
The Forbidden icon becomes red when clicked. This means that this element is excluded.
Forecast
This button allows you to simulate the performance of your flight based on the inventory source (i.e., Marketplace) and the creative selected. See Flight Forecasting for more information.
