Samsung DSP supports the following segment types:

How it worksProsCons
Standard1. A user visits a page on a website with the Standard Segment Tag implemented.
2. The Standard Segment Tag makes a request to the DSP.
3. The DSP adds the user to the segment. If the standard segment is in a conversion group, the DSP will counts appropriate conversions.

Universal1. A user visits a page on a website with the Universal Segment Tag implemented.
2. The Universal Segment Tag makes a request to Samsung DSP.
3. Samsung DSP evaluates the request, looks at all the Universal Segments rules and adds the user to the right segments. If the universal segments selected are in a conversion group, Samsung DSP will counts appropriate conversions.
- One tag for all segments, meaning the same tag will be placed on all the different event pages
- Can track conversion revenue number, i.e.: cost of the room for a hotel booking
- Able to use rule-based logic to create segments/events/conversions.
Setup is a bit more complex
Offline1. A user watches an advertisement on his home TV set. This advertisement has been broadcast by a flight to which an offline segment tag is attached.
2. The user goes to the store to buy the promoted product.
3. The advertiser sends conversion data to Samsung Ads including the Offline Segment ID associated with a campaign.
4. Samsung Ads performs matching to determine whether the conversion, i.e., the purchase of the product in-store, is linked to the advertising impression (via the Offline Segment ID), and to identify that the user who performed the conversion is the same one who was exposed to the advertising in question.
