Create an audience insight report

Get started by navigating to the Audience Insights page:

  1. On the left hand navigation panel, select Audiences. The Audiences submenu will be displayed.
  2. Select Audience Insights. The Audience Insights page will be displayed.
  3. Select +New Audience Insight. The New Insight page will be displayed.

The New Insight page has four sections:

Follow the instructions below to learn how to complete each section to create an audience insight.


Country & Insights Type

Select the country you want to generate insights for in this section.

  • The Insights Type field will be populated with Audience Profile by default. No action is required.
  • Access to insight dimensions and metrics varies by country. Consult insight availability by region for more details.

General settings

Define the study period and assign a name to your Audience Insights report in this section.

  1. Insights Study Period: The insights study period is the range of dates of data that will be used to generate the insight. It can be a minimum of one day and a maximum of 16 months.

a. Select the calendar icon. The date picker window will be displayed.
b. Select either a predefined study period on the left hand side or select a study period start and end date from the calendars on the right hand side.
c. Select Apply to save the study period. The Insights Study period field will be updated with your study period.

  1. Insights Report Name: Enter a name for your Audience Insights report. The name that you assign in this step will appear on the Audience Insights listing page after the insight report has been generated.

Audiences

Insights will be generated for the audience, referred to as the target audience, that you select in this step. The target audience will be compared with the comparison audience that you will select afterwards.

Audience

  1. Click Select to select an audience. The Select Target Audience window will be displayed:

  1. Select an audience source from the options displayed on the left hand side.

* Audience Builder: AB audiences data is based on data collected on Samsung devices. By default, the AB audiences will be filtered to display only audiences that you requested. Use the search bar to narrow down the results or remove the Requester filter to expand the list of options to choose from.
* DMP 1st Party: DMP 1st party audiences data is sourced through integrations like Liveramp. Narrow down the list of audiences to choose from by filtering by vendor or by searching for an audience name.
* DMP 3rd Party: DMP 3rd party data are segments based on 3P data providers like Experian, Axciom, Polk, and Epsilon. Narrow down the list of audiences to choose from by filtering by vendor or by searching for an audience name

  1. Select up to 20 audiences from the options displayed. Note that you can select audiences from multiple sources. Your selections will be appear on the Selections panel on the right hand side.
  2. Click Select to save your audience.

If you selected more than one audience, the Combine Audience page will be displayed:

  1. Enter a name for your combined audience in the New Audience Name field.
  2. Optionally, group your audiences into subgroups by selecting the checkbox next to the audiences you want to group together and select the Group button.
  3. Optionally, select the Boolean operator buttons AND, OR, or NOT to include or exclude segments from your combined audience.
  4. Click Combine to create your combined audience.

The audience you selected or created will appear in the Audience field.

Comparison Audience

Select a comparison audience to compare the insights generated for your target audience against. There are two options:

  • Samsung Universe: The Samsung Universe comparison audience includes the set of all Samsung TVs. Samsung Universe is selected by default.
  • Select Your Own: Use the Select Your Own audience option to compare the target audience against a specific comparison audience. For example, you could compare audiences exposed to a campaign against a target audience of the 18-34 age group or an audience of app owners from Audience Builder.

Follow these steps to select your own audience:

  1. Click Select Your Own. When you click Select Your Own, click the Select button that appears. The Select Comparison Audience window will be displayed:

  2. Select up to 20 audiences from the options displayed. Note that you can select audiences from multiple sources. Your selections will be appear on the Selections panel on the right hand side.
  3. Click Select to save your audience.

If you selected more than one audience, the Combine Audience page will be displayed:

  1. Enter a name for your combined audience in the New Audience Name field.

  4. Click Combine to create your combined audience.

The audience you selected or created will appear in the Comparison Audience field.


Insights Report Settings

Select the insights you want to include in your report in the Insights Report Settings section.

There are five insights:

  • Linear TV: Provides insights about audience engagement across different linear networks, programs and genres.
  • Streaming TV: Provides insights about audience engagement across streaming app types, categories, TVP networks and genres.
  • Gaming: Provides insights about audience engagement across gaming consoles, publishers, titles and genres.
  • Cross channel insights: Provides insights about audience engagement across linear, streaming and gaming.
  • Demographics: Provides insights across demographic attributes. These vary based on region. Read more about demographic data availability here.

By default, the insights that are available for your region will be selected. Read more about insight availability in the Insight and metric availability by region article.

Modify the selection of insights by following the steps below:

  1. Select the Insights Settings drop down menu. The list of insights will be displayed:

  1. Clear the checkboxes for insights that you do not want to include in your report. Close the expandable window when you are done.

Submit your request

Review your new insight configuration. If everyting is correct, select Create Audience Insight to create your report.

A message will be displayed confirming that your insight has been created successfully.

The Audience Insights page will be displayed. Your audience insights report will be displayed at the top of the page:

The processing time required to create an Audience Insight depends on what target audience is chosen:

  • If the Audience Builder audience is chosen as a target audience an Audience Insights item requires up to two hours.
  • If DMP 1p or 3p is chosen as a target audience, an Audience Insights items requires up to three hours to generate.
