Article summary

When creating a Campaign and setting up the flights, it may be useful to adjust some settings like the Frequency Cap to improve the Flight's performance. Frequency Cap restricts Samsung DSP from targeting audiences that were exposed multiple times to the same ad within a specific time frame.

This can be done by performing Batch Actions where the exact settings can thereby be applied to multiple flights in batch instead of individually.

Follow these steps to simultaneously change the frequency cap setting for multiple flights via a Batch Actions operation.

  1. On the Campaign Show page, select the Campaign whose multiple Flights you wish to change the frequency cap setting.
  2. On the Campaign Edit page, select at least two Flights by ticking their respective checkboxes to enable the Batch Actions button.
  3. Click on Batch Actions and select Edit flights.

You will be directed to the New Batch Edit page.

New Batch Edit

  1. For the Batch operation name field, you can leave this field as is or enter a new description.
  2. In the Search and Edit Parameters section, you can either type the setting you want to change in the search bar or select it from the drop-down list.
    • To update the frequency cap, click on Strategy, then Flight Frequency Cap.
  3. In the Choose Action drop-down list, the Replace option will be selected by default and set to Read-Only mode. When other options such as Add or Remove will be available, the drop-down list will be accessible. For the moment, Replace will add a new frequency cap rule to the selected flights by overwriting any existing one.
  4. In the following fields, set the restriction parameters the Flights should rely on when delivering. :
    1. The maximum number of times (view) a viewer should see the ad. You can set 1 as the minimum value and 1000 as the maximum.
    2. The frequency (Interval): per minute, hour, day, week, month, or forever, i.e. entire length of the campaign.
    3. The restriction scope: whether this applies to a device ID or IP address.
  5. Click on +Add to add another frequency cap if necessary. Make sure that every frequency cap is distinct.
  6. After editing the parameters as required, click on Add to Changes. Your changes will be reported in the Updated Fields section.
  • Clicking on the hyperlink in the Field Name column will provide you a detailed view of all the parameters you set for the selected flights.
  1. By default, the Send an email notification when the process is finished is checked and will send you an email once the batch action is completed. You may untick that checkbox if you do not wish to receive an email notification.
  2. Click on Confirm Changes to apply your changes.
  3. In the lower left-hand corner, a pop-up notification will invite you to click on the details hyperlink to see your task on the Batch Actions page.
